Introduction

Hedley Hall Cottages were designed with accessibility for guests with disabilities in mind, so their family and friends can enjoy a great holiday or short break together. Hedley Hall Stables were converted to Hedley Hall Cottages in 2008. The cottages are situated in the beautiful and tranquil grounds of Hedley Hall which was once part of the working farm owned by the Queen Mother's Estate. The cottages benefit from 16.5 acres of idyllic rural scenery. There are four cottages available, each accredited with the accessible scheme award, Hearing - 1 Visual - 1 Mobility - 3.

The Cottages
  • Ramped access and on one level.
  • Can accommodate up to 4 guests in each with flexible living of 2 double or twin bedrooms modified to accommodate guests' needs with a large family bathroom and an open-plan kitchen/diner and living room.
  • To aid the visually impaired there are external yellow strips to guide mobility.
  • Large print games and playing cards available.
  • For our hard of hearing guests we have the Echo Mega Loop system.
  • We also have a mobile hoist on site available for guests with limited mobility and access to a wide range of equipment available for hire.
  • Information is provided in each cottage regarding local services including medical services.
  • For families we provide children's cutlery and crockery, a high chair and travel cot.
  • Large screen TV and DVD player.
  • We provide anti-allergy pillows.
Pre-Arrival
  • Accessible website, email, text phone, fax, large print brochure.
  • Information available to guests regarding accessible places to visit: pubs, restaurants, local shops, amenities and services.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
  • Guests will be met on arrival and shown around their cottage. Assistance will be offered if required.
  • Parking for cars is available to the front of the cottage. This area is well lit and has ramped access with a handrail on both sides.
Main Entrance
  • Front door: 800mm, vertical handle, push opening, hinged door, flush thresh.
  • Rear door: opening width 900mm, vertical handle, push opening hinged doors, flush thresh.
  • Ground floor level throughout with open plan living/dining/kitchen area provides space for wheelchairs to manoeuvre.
  • Wooden floors throughout inside.
  • All windows where possible have been lowered.
Outdoor Facilities
  • Wheelchair accessible to patio area surrounded in 16 acres overlooking woodlands and fields full of wildlife.
  • Level patio area fenced for children's safety with garden furniture and BBQ available.
Bedroom One
  • Double room with zip and link beds suitable for wheelchair users. 1200mm turning space and unobstructed transfer space to bed on left or right side of 900mm.
Bedroom Two
  • Double room with zip and link beds suitable for wheelchair users provides 1200mm turning space and unobstructed transfer space to bed on left or right side of 900mm.
  • Private shower room.
  • Beds are supplied with duvets and two pillows per person (non-allergenic). Extra pillows and blankets are available on request.
  • Bedrooms are furnished with wardrobes that have adjustable hanging and shelf space, touch control bedside lamps, vanity shelves and chairs with rigid arms.
Shower Room
  • Accessible level entry shower room with fixed shower stool and shower chair offering right and left transfer, 1500mm turning space, adequate room for carer or mobile hoist, support rail and thermostatically controlled shower with adjustable shower head height.
  • Raised toilet at 49cms high with touch button flush.
  • Lowered hand basin 74cms with lever taps and clear under space with vertical support rails on both sides.
  • Shaver socket.
Bathroom
  • Bath with overhead shower.
  • Standard sink and toilet facilities.
  • Shaver socket.
Self Catering Kitchen
  • Work surfaces are standard height.
  • Dining area table 74mm and extendable for easier access for wheelchair users.
  • We can offer dining chairs with rigid arms.
Additional Information
  • Disposal of clinical waste can be arranged.
  • We are happy to arrange any further adaptations you require where possible.
  • Armchairs are higher to make sitting easier for the elderly/people with limited mobility.
  • Credit cards charged at 2% per transaction.
